Prerequisites

This immersion is intended for anyone with a genuine interest in having an in-depth understanding of Yin Yoga. For those that already teach yoga, this course will prepare you to add Yin Yoga to your offerings. For anyone who is an aspiring yoga teacher, industry standards require you to have at a minimum a 200-hour certification from a single school of yoga. This immersion does not count towards a 200-hour certification, however, it does count towards 60-hours of continuing education with Yoga Alliance and prepare you to teach Yin Yoga.

While Yin Yoga can be practiced by any body at any stage of life, we recommend that you have at least 1-year of consistent yoga practice that includes (but does not need to be focused on) Yin Yoga. Having experience with yoga will give you the foundation you need to get the most out of this immersion.

Program Requirements

100% attendance is required for participation in this immersion. This requirement is first and far most so that YOU get the most out of this experience. Your attendance also impacts the energy of the group and this journey is intended to be a supportive, safe and sacred space for all participants. Finally, the teachers put forth immense amounts of time, energy and heart to offer this immersion and absences can distract and dilute the content of the training.

We understand that, in rare cases, serious life emergencies arise. If you experience this during the course of the program, arrangements can be made to make up the work and complete your training either at an alternative time or during future yoga training sessions. These decisions are made independently for each student and must be approved in person with Caitlin Rose Kenney at a meeting scheduled and approved by all involved parties.

Homework and readings will be assigned each week and are to be completed between modules (expect 2+ hours of self study each week). It is highly recommended that you take at least one Yin Yoga class at our studio during the week to support your study. All yoga classes at The Little Yoga Studio are included with your tuition.

Application & Tuition

This 60-hour Yin Yoga Immersion & Teacher Training at the Little Yoga Studio costs $975.

Tuition includes all sessions outlined above, a specialized manual and unlimited yoga classes at the Little Yoga Studio during the training. Tuition does not include the costs of required and recommended reading.

To ensure this program is a good fit for you and for the instructors to provide the most supportive environment an application is required. Within 1-week of your application submission you will be notified of acceptance. Once accepted, your payment will be processed by the Little Yoga Studio.

Once you have successfully met all of the program requirements you will receive a certificate of completion. No certification will be granted if tuition is not paid in full. Note: yoga instructors are required to obtain insurance before they may begin to teach.

FAQ

What is the difference between Yin Teacher Training and 200-hour Yoga Certification?

This Yin Yoga Teacher Training is 60 contact hours and provides a focused and in depth study of Yin Yoga. While it is not a substitute for 200-hour Yoga Certification, it can be taken before or after a 200-hour training for those on a teaching path. 200-hour Yoga Certification is the minimum requirement, as recognized by Yoga Alliance, to qualify professional yoga teachers and provides foundational knowledge and skills. Given the wide breadth of Yoga styles that exist today there are innumerable fields of study one can focus on. This Yin Yoga Teacher Training is an excellent way to diversify your portfolio as a yoga teacher and explore anatomy, mindfulness, Chinese Meridian Theory and spiritual inquiry.

Where can I teach Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is increasing in popularity world-wide and is being recognized as a practice that has vast physical, psycho-emotional and spiritual benefits. Yoga studios, fitness centers, wellness collectives and private instructors are adding Yin Yoga to their schedules to balance rigorous exercise programs. Yin Yoga can be practiced by all levels (true beginners and long-time practitioners alike find significant value in the practice), all backgrounds and all ages. Yin Yoga can be an excellent bridge between a physical yoga practice and a meditation practice as it teaches practitioners how to surrender into stillness and observe and anchor the mind. The tenants of Yin Yoga can expand a teacher's capacity to offer both strictly Yin classes and be woven with other genres like Gentle Yoga. Yin Yoga does not require a heated room nor special yoga props (although props are helpful when available) and thus can be practiced anywhere!
